right now on eyewitness news this morning, orange county deputies say a man was attacked outside of a local bar. now he has a brain injury. the search right now for the suspect. we are asking deputies if they know what lead a woman to shoot and kill a man in orange county. >> fights broke out between supporters and protestors at a donald trump rally. the chaos forcing trump to cancel the event. breaking right now, a car fire has part of i-4 eastbound shut down. we are asking fire officials and police if anyone was hurt. it's saturday, march 12th. i'm daralene jones. we will have more on the top story in a moment including breaking news but first a live look outside over downtown orlando.

out this morning. meteorologist marina jurica is in severe weather center 9. and we are dealing with fog. at daytona beach, that is the atlantic in the foreground. we will continue to see dense fog another couple of hours. we have the thickest in flagler, volusia and seminole county. fog on the i-4 corridor. flagler, volusia and seminole that's where the thickest fog it. by 8:00 it's so much better. by 10:00 we are completely clear which is awesome. current temperatures, we are mainly in the low to mid-60s. we have a couple of hot spots in coke to beach and melbourne at 70, 71. cool spot 57 in ocala. mid-80s inland. upper 70s to low 80s on the coastline. we will see spotty showers which i will track for you on future track 9 in the next 30 minutes. stay with us. orange county deputies are trying to find the person that

him with a brain injury. this happened outside of the tavern at the creek in hunter's creek. we took out the names in the interview you are about to hear. no one has been charged. eyewitness news julie salomone spoke to the victim's friend. >> reporter: he wanted to remain anonymous. we aren't mentioning names because no one was charged. the fight started when his female friend that walked into inappropriately. the man. >> another gentleman walked toward me -- [ bleep ] and we were stopped at the front door. -- [ bleep ] reaches over cups and grabs her private area. rest room. when he stepped outside, he walked in on a fight that was going on. the sheriff's office reports that he was drifting in and out of consciousness and throwing up. >> the other gentlemen machine

decided to jump on him and kick him, punch him and kick him in his face as he is on the ground. >> the attacker hasn't been identified. the victim's friend tells us his brain continues to swell and he is drifting in and out of consciousness. >> just brutally treated like that for no reason. >> julie salomone, eyewitness news this morning. breaking news in orange county. a crash and car fire has part of i-4 eastbound shut down. take a look. you can see that some vehicles are getting there on the left side but you can see that car caught near there on the right side of your screen. emergency crews are there on the scene. this happened at maitland boulevard and this is a live look at the road right now. you can see traffic is moving there slowly in the eastbound side. maitland police are investigating what happened there. we have a crew heading to the scene to gather more information including to find

throughout the newscast. right now u orange county deputies are working to find a in apopka. the 34-year-old man was shot inside the home. he died at florida hospital apopka. he reached out to the sheriff's office to get more information about what lead up to the shooting and the names of the suspect and victim. we will bring you an update as soon as we learn more. new from overnight, state troopers are investigating a fatal hit and run in downtown orlando. we captured this picture after 10:30 last night. the scene is in the distance. you can see the flashing lights state troopers have not released any additional information. state troopers are investigating a fatal crash on merritt island. brevard county fire rescue officials say a driver crashed into a pole just after 2:00 this morning. investigators say at least one person had to be pulled from

these people are bringing us down. >> reporter: trump fired back at the growing number of people disrupting his rallies. >> go home to mommy. get him out. troublemaker. go home and get a job. >> reporter: the incidents are more frequent and more of a concern. wednesday a trump supporter in north carolina was charged with assault and battery for sucker punching a demonstrator while the young man was being escorted out by police. trump and his campaign discourage this kind of behavior and ensure the safety of any and all attendees. trump suggested to his supporters that they should become violent. >> we are not allowed to punch back any more. >> if you see somebody getting ready to throw a tomato, knock the crap out of them, would you, seriously. >> i like like to punch him in the face. >> reporter: he is dealing with accusations that his campaign manager assaulted michelle fields, a reporter.

governor rick scott will look over the $82.3 billion state budget that lawmakers gave approval to last night. the house and senate approved the budget almost unanimously. lawmakers voted once again not to expand health insurance to families. revise the budget. >> the process you have is the governor proposes a budget. let tur passes the budget -- legislature passes the budget. i will go through and look at ways where i can save money. >> governor scott has not said if he will veto the budget. he was pushing for a tax cut package. lawmakers agreed to a portion of that. orange county school district leaders will break ground on a new middle school near avalon park. the school board voted to build it last year to help with overcrowding issues. the groundbreaking ceremony

daytona beach may see the busiest day of bike week today. so far state troopers say it's relatively safe event. they have had a handful of crashes in volusia county and a few fatalities. despite a few accidents, police have helped keep traffic flow organized. marina jurica is in severe weather. >> it will be hot for those bikers in daytona beach. this weekend 79, 80 tomorrow. we have a 10% shot at a spotty shower today and a 50% shot at showers and isolated storms as we head into sunday afternoon and evening. so, just keep that in mind. in ocala, from west to east, we wake up with sunshine this morning. then mostly cloudy skies as we head into the rest of our day with a high of 83 at 4:00. in baldwin park, mostly cloudy skies. a little shine filtering in in the afternoon with a high of 83 degrees.

good morning. i'm marina jurica. hope you are having a fantastic start to your weekend. we have a little hurdle to get through especially for the northern counties that you can see on the daytona beach live cam. it's starting to lift as the sunshine is taking over. the sun won't be with us all day today. clouds will be increasing and we will be looking at a chance for a few spotty showers as we head into our day. so, a few showers today. but the bulk of the rain and storms will stay west then enter into our neck of the

unfortunately, louisiana, parts of the panhandle will continue to see flooding concerns as we head into the day today. flagler, volusia county into seminole, fog, less than half a mile visibility. if you have any plans to head out the sanford international this morning for the next 90 minutes, there might be delays. call ahead of time. by 10:00 a.m., everything will be completely clear. you can see a touch of fog throughout the western and i-4 counties as well. temperatures, cool spot, ocala at 57. 66 new smyrna beach. winds are quiet. form. clear skies, calmer winds, more humidity in the air which i'm sure you felt the last couple of days, a good formula for that fog. clouds will increase as we head into the day today. 2:00 this afternoon, you can here. there as we head into the 2:00 to 6:00 timeframe, know that you might see a couple of today.

>> this is a crime that happens in secret. it's an organized effort and the people who are involved in it, they take extensive steps private. >> this is the first trial for those arrested and charged in the case. prosecutors said most of the people involved took plea deals. the city of bell isle settled a case with a police officer that accused the office of administration. sergeant carter was found incompetent for ignoring directives from the police chief. the city paid carter $45,000 he agreed to retire. nearly $17,000 went to attorney fees, the rest went to carter. thanks to our call in to our newsroom, a teenager who had disappeared for nearly two days has been reunited with his family as he fights for his life.

technology to determine your bill each month. glitches caused back billing up to three months of service. why do customers have to pay for the mistake. >> they never should have installed it. it's not working. >> he is speaking on behalf of his neighbors. they are furious ouc spent $15 million on new digital technology plagued with major issues. >> create a situation where the bill doubles from one month to the next. >> 9 investigates learned ouc switched to a digital meter reading system installed by a north carolina based company. they have a $15 million contract. the goal is to provide realtime usage data to customers and save money by eliminating the real people that used to manually read your meter. they rely in part on an underground cable to communicate with a computer that determines your monthly consumption. >> we had issues with the cables.

meters but any percent is too much. >> the problem is with water bills and not electric and it cost ouc $1 million last year because customers were under billed. so, the utility had to go back and estimate consumption and back bill. the utility covered three months, $586,000 but customers were back billed up to three months totaling $475,000. ouc couldn't tell us how much they had to back bill customers this year. >> why are they being forced to eat any of the cost? >> there was consumption. we are not billing them for something that they didn't use. >> reporter: but it is forcing customers to guess whether they will be hit with a bill that they can't afford because of a mistake by a vendor with a $15 million contract. >> it's negligent to install a system that doesn't work in the first place. >> customers will continue to

interest of a man found buried in an ocala national forest last week. the sheriff's office believes tommy lombardo died in putnam county. deputies are now speaking with 43-year-old jerry keen. they have not said why he is considered a person of interest. an orange county mother is facing attempted murder charges after prosecutors say she lied about her role in a shooting at an orlando gas station. stephanie jones told investigators she was in her van during this fight in september. she said her son was accidentally shot at the family's home. once investigators saw the surveillance video, she found out jones fired her gun during the fight and her son was accidentally shot trying to grab the gun from her. there is another case of the mosquito-borne zika advisories in orange county. the -- virus in orange county.

officials asked congress for $2 billion to help combat the virus. congress denied the request saying left over money used to fight ebola can be used instead. a lab of genetically modified mosquitoes may be released in the florida keys to combat zika. oxy tech modified mosquitoes with synthetic dna. the goal is to reduce the population of the mosquitoes that spread the virus. the fda is reviewing whether to allow it but they say there wouldn't be any threat to humans or the environment. orange county deputies need your help finding the person that attacked a man outside of a local bar and left him with a brain injury. next, the message the victim's friend has for the suspect. >> looking at clouds increasing and a few sprinkles starting to move in for saturday. i'm tracking the rain chance

you will see a high of 78. breaking in orange county, we got an undate from state troopers in the last 15 minutes about a fatal hit and run in downtown orlando. we captured this video from the scene from our tower camera after 10:30 last night. a nissan altima was speeding down colonial drive and hit a bicycle. the altima was found abandoned in orlando a half hour later. the driver is on the run. also breaking right now in orange county, take a look at this. a crash and car fire has part of i-4 eastbound blocked. take a look at this video. you can see our transportation camera recorded this video of the car which caught fire in the last 30 minutes. it happened at maitland boulevard. this is a live look at the road. you can see traffic is getting by slowly in the left lane. maitland police are investigating what happened there. we have a crew heading to the scene to gather more information including how to find out if anyone was hurt.

we called brevard county fire rescue and they told us a brushfire has state road 407 shut down. firefighters are monitoring hot spots between 405 and i-95. fire officials say the fire you see here is about 90% contained. yesterday crews used a helicopter to battle the blaze. it's not clear how it started. firefighters say the road will likely be closed throughout the morning. we will let you know when and if it reopens. in palm bay, two brushfires that damaged homes earlier this week have not rekindled. we told you wednesday firefighters battled a 45-acre brushfire. the flames melted the siding on homes there and some residents were forced to evacuate. the next day a five acre fire broke out near quintin and westbury street.

the department of transportation has to pay out nearly 1 1/2 million dollars to settle a lawsuit over a bridge in seminole county. the lawsuit was filed by the owner of the orlando jai-alai property in casselberry. he wanted to stop the construction of a bridge on 436 claiming it might hurt local businesses and future development. in the next few hours, community leaders in lake county will hold a ribbon- cutting ceremony for a new track and field for people -- for all people. taveras. he featured a cushion surface that can accommodate wheelchairs and other assist devices. ribbon cutting at 9:00 a.m. orlando is one of the of the country. orlando broke the tourism

we are seeing haze and fog and definitely in volusia county. look look at daytona this morning, we are very foggy there. it's improving. that is the direction that we are going to be heading in in the next 60 minutes. a touch of fog everywhere else. it improved the last 30 minutes. big improvements by 9:00. you can see the fog pretty much completely lifted through the area. temperatures are in the 60s. it's very mild. a couple of 70s in cocoa beach and melbourne already. we will be warm in the mid-90s inland and upper 70s on the coast. i am tracking a chance for a few shot city -- spotty showers. >> we continue to follow breaking news in orange county right now. we just learned one person has died after a car caught fire on i-4. this happened at maitland boulevard. part of the highway in that area is shut down. eyewitness news this morning's julie salomone just arrived on the scene.

>> i spoke with maitland police officials as well as maitland fire officials. if you take a look behind me, we can see the car from this vantage stage point. we had to pull off on a side street because it's not safe for us to pull off for on i-4. you can see the burned out car. a man, approximately 60 years old was traveling at a high rate of speed. for some reason, the car eventually lost control and left the side of the road. he hit a sign and he was pronounced dead on scene. fire officials told me there was so much extensive damage to the vehicle that the engine actually fell off the car. transportation cameras. you can see the backup that it's creating on i-4 eastbound. i am told 90 a, the ramp to 90 a is closed and i-4 is reduced just to one lane open on eastbound right now near the maitland exit. so, again, one person has died

driver is still on the run. troopers just released new information about a fatal crash on merritt island. investigators say william spaeck lost control and crashed into a utility policy. his passenger died the crash. the crash is still under investigation. orange county deputies are working to find a woman that they say shot and killed a man in apopka. deputies responded near old apopka road last night. the man was found shot inside the home. he died at florida hospital apopka. we reached out to the sheriff's office to get more information about what lead to the shooting and the names of the suspect and the victim. we will bring you an update as soon as we learn more. deputies are trying to find the person that attacked and beat an orange county man. he has a brain injury. sebastian valencia is trying to recover at a local hospital. he was beaten outside of the

got this bill in the mail from the central florida expressway authority that he realized what happened. >> they put a 3.40 fee on there. when i saw that the lights were missing and the chip cards were coming out, i saw a real potential for a lot of local customers to get burned. >> reporter: officials told me without the indicators they use e-mail to let you know if your account balance is low. that means you could go through tolls with a negative balance. >> what you were charged was almost double. >> it was only 35 cents less for the fees and the actual tolls. if i had one less toll it would have been more in fees than for the tolls. that is crazy. >> reporter: it will cost you 10 cents per toll and $3 per mailed invoice.when multiplied by thousands of drivers, they add up. >> there are a lot of customers that will end up paying a lot more because cfx chose to remove these lights.

maitland police are investigating what lead up to a fatal crash and car fire. part of the area is shut down. eyewitness news's julie salomone has been speaking to investigators this morning. what have you learned about the victim. >> reporter: officials aren't releasing too much information. he was a male, approximately 60 years old. one of the police officials came out here to show us pole. the car crashed into the concrete pole. it's a sign attached to the pole. take a look at the video that we were sent. a witness sent us this as he drove by the area earlier. the car engulfed in flames. fire officials told me when

she went to a buy here, pay here dealer. after six months carnation sold her contract to sterling credit. >> we want to help you better your credit and we will put you with this sterling credit corporation. >> reporter: she made payments to sterling but said last month the new lender asked her about the truck's condition. >> i said, i will be honest with you, the truck has problems. >> reporter: then molina heard she no longer qualified and her loan was being sent back to carnation. that same day her truck disappeared. >> i was dumfounded. i thought somebody had stolen the truck. >> reporter: medina said carnation repossessed the truck without giving her a chance to make the payment due that week. >> reporter: she said the car was repoed? a manager didn't respond. was the loan sold to sterling finance. >> yes, it was. >> reporter: did she miss a payment? >> she did. >> when? >> reporter: later the company said she was four lays late. that's why sterling called to

of a fatal crash and car fire. you can see here the flames coming from the car at maitland side. orange county fire rescue officials told us one man died. maitland police are investigating exactly what caused the fire. we will have more live updates on eyewitness news this morning over on tv 27 in about five minutes. also breaking in orange county, state troopers are looking for the driver that hit and killed a bicyclist in downtown orlando then took off. we captured this video of the scene from our tower camera after 10:30 last night. a nissan altima was speeding and hit charles mcmurray in the turn lane. the altima was found abandoned in orlando a half hour later. daytona beach may see the busiest day of bike week today. so far state troopers say it has been relatively safe. there have been a handful of crashes in volusia county and a few fatalities. bikers say despite a few accidents, police helped keep
